Basic Listing: How to Respond to a Review
With Basic Listing access, your dealership has
the ability to respond publicly to reviews you have received on DealerRater. Public responses for positive
reviews allow you to customize your page and stand out from the average
dealership. Public responses to negative reviews are a critical part of our
best practices, and allow you to address negative reviews with not only the reviewer, but also for the benefit of any potential customers reading your reviews.
To respond publicly to a review, please follow the steps below:
1) Log in to your Dealer Panel with an account which has administrative access for your dealership
2) Locate the
review you would like to respond to, and click on the “Respond” button to access the
Review Details page.

3) From here you can:
- “Respond Publicly” from the “Respond” section.
- You will be asked to confirm that you wish to send a public response.

4) Type your
message in the space provided and click “Submit Response” to send your response.
Once your message has been sent, it will be posted immediately below the review on your Dealer Profile Page. Reviewers do have the option to reply to your message, so we always recommend "taking the high road" and remaining polite and helpful if you are responding to a negative review. Remember that your public response is important not only to the reviewer, but to any potential customers reading your reviews.
